EUROPEAN PRIVATE COMPANY STATUTE MAY HELP CROSS BORDER BUSINESS

04 September 2007

The European Commission has launched a public consultation on whether there are any obstacles companies - in particular small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) - face when conducting cross-border business in the EU and whether a possible European Private Company (EPC) Statute may help resolve these obstacles.

To date the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR) have had no strong expression of interest in the EPC from UK business so are keen to hear if there are cross-border business operations that UK business are unable to do that might be facilitated by an EPC.
